Oil paintings should never be cleaned with a solvent or “dusted” with a towel or paper. If your art work is in need of a real cleaning, I would recommend that you take the painting to an established art gallery in your area for advice.
Pastel paintings are as long lived as an oil painting once they are properly framed. There are considerations to remember when cleaning the glass on your painting. Do not spray a glass cleaner directly onto the glass surface, but spray a soft clean cloth first and then wipe the glass surface with the cloth.
Hang
both your oil and your pastel paintings out of direct sunlight.
