Pastels:
I use the finest acid-free materials in creating pastel portraits and paintings as well as the best name-brand pastels for color fastness and permanence. Paintings are lightly sprayed with a spray fixative during the progress of the painting. However, they are not over sprayed.
Pastels by their nature are fragile and paintings must be handled carefully when being framed. I will be glad to help the client make arrangements with a qualified art gallery to frame the pastel portrait before it is shipped to the client. The client would deal directly with the art gallery. Costs for framing are not included in the price of the portrait.
Once a pastel portrait is framed it is as long-lived as an oil painting. There are a few considerations to remember in the care of you painting. Place your paintings on the wall so that they are not in direct sunlight. If you have a bright room, special light protecting glass can be used to protect the painting. In addition, when cleaning, please do not spray the glass surface directly with a cleaner, but apply cleaner to a soft clean cloth and then wipe the glass.
Oils:
I use the finest oil paints, mediums, varnishes and canvases to produce a painting that will last for future generations.
Oil paintings should never be cleaned with a solvent or “dusted” with paper or a towel. If in doubt as to the cleaning of your artwork, I recommend that you take the painting to an established art gallery in your area for advice.
An oil painting should not be hung where it will receive direct sunlight. It is best to place the painting where the sunlight is indirect.
